Terms of Service

By creating an account or using Mathnova ("the Platform"), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Platform.

Mathnova is an SAT math diagnostic tool. We provide practice questions, adaptive diagnostics, score estimates, skill mastery maps, and error analysis. Our score estimates are approximations — they are not official SAT scores and should not be treated as guarantees of actual test performance.

• You need a valid invite code to register
• You must provide a valid email address
• You are responsible for keeping your password secure
• You must be at least 13 years old to use the Platform
• One account per person — don't share accounts

Mathnova is a paid monthly subscription. The price displayed at signup is the price you'll be charged each month.

• Free trial — new subscriptions start with a 3-day free trial. We collect a payment method at signup, but you aren't charged until the trial ends. Your trial end date and first charge date are shown on your account's billing page. One free trial per customer: if you resubscribe later, billing starts immediately.
• Automatic renewal — unless you cancel, your subscription automatically renews each month and the payment method on file is charged the price displayed at your signup. It continues renewing until you cancel.
• How to cancel — cancel anytime from your account's billing page, which redirects you to our payment processor (Stripe) for secure self-service. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep full access until then and won't be charged again. Cancel during the trial and you pay nothing.
• Failed payments — if a renewal charge fails, our payment processor retries it over the following days and we email you a link to update your payment method. If payment can't be collected, your subscription is canceled. After a subscription ends, you keep read-only access to your past results.
• Promotional access — promotional codes and complimentary accounts are subject to these same Terms.

The 3-day free trial is your window to decide whether Mathnova is right for your child — cancel before it ends and you pay nothing. Once a billing period has been charged, it is not refundable: canceling stops future charges, but we don't provide refunds or credits for the current or prior billing periods, including partial months. We may make exceptions at our sole discretion; an exception in one case doesn't create an obligation in any other. Questions or requests: email support@mathnova.io.

• Use the Platform for your personal SAT preparation
• Upload scratch work photos during diagnostics
• View and download your own results

• Share, screenshot, copy, or distribute our questions, answer explanations, or diagnostic content
• Use the Platform for any commercial purpose without our permission
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract our question bank or algorithms
• Interfere with the Platform's operation or other users' experience
• Create multiple accounts or share your invite code without authorization

When you use the Platform, you generate data — diagnostic responses, scratch work photos, and interaction patterns. By using the Platform, you grant us a perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide license to use this data for:

• Operating and improving the Platform
• Research and development of educational tools
• Training and improving our AI models and algorithms
• Creating anonymized, aggregated insights about student learning

This license survives account deletion. We will not publicly associate your individual data with your identity without your separate consent.

All questions, scoring algorithms, skill maps, error analysis systems, and other Platform content are our property (or licensed to us). Your use of the Platform doesn't transfer any ownership rights to you.

The Platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee that the Platform will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that score estimates will accurately predict actual SAT performance. We're a startup doing our best to help you prep — but we can't promise specific outcomes.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mathnova and its team shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed $50.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You can request account deletion by emailing privacy@mathnova.io. Upon deletion, we remove your personally identifiable information as described in our Privacy Policy, but anonymized data and the license granted in Section 8 survive.

We may update these Terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. For material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.
